Venezuela was hit by rare doublet earthquakes of magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5 on June 24. Shallow depths and unreinforced buildings amplified the destruction, leaving over 1,700 dead and 60,000 missing by June 30. Damage is estimated up to USD 7.77B, centered near three long-dormant fault lines.
