Fire Breaks out at DPWH Building Amid Flood Control Investigation

A fire damaged a government infrastructure building in Quezon City amid ongoing corruption investigations. Although officials report no probe documents were destroyed, authorities are conducting an in-depth investigation into the incident to rule out potential foul play.

On October 22, A fire broke out in one of the buildings of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Quezon City as investigation on flood control anomalies continues. The incident occurred on 12:39 PM at the third floor of the DPWH-Bureau of Research and Standards (BRS) building with the fire reportedly originating from a cubicle at the Materials Testing Division. The cause of the fire was initially reported by the DPWH to be from an exploded computer unit, but it was subsequently found by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to be from an electrical short-circuit in the ceiling. The fire was declared ‘out’ around 1:49 PM, but not before spreading to other two divisions located on the same floor.
